What we are going to cover:
How is Acne defined?
Acne can appear in areas with multiple sebaceous glands in the body such as the chest, back, and of course, the face. Acne can appear in the form of inflamed and purulent sores, in the form of black and white spots (comedones), or in the form of abscess - a purulent area surrounded by dead tissue located under the skin.
How is Acne recognized in adults?
Generally speaking, adolescents typically experience acne in the chin and cheek area. In adults, however, acne will be seen in the lower check & face area, jawline, and neck. Adult acne is usually characterized by pimples and less by white and blackheads.
What are the causes of Adult Acne?
As of 2022, there is still no definitive cause for adult acne, however, science has pointed to the following common causes:
Overactivity of the sebaceous glands:
Hormonal imbalance can use the dysfunction of the sebaceous glands. It is typically experienced during adolescence but can be experienced in adulthood. When our hormones are imbalanced, the overactivity of the sebaceous glands produces skin reactions. The glands will secrete the fat that comes into contact with dead skin cells, leading to the clogging of the pores and the formation of pimples.
Hormonal Activity in Adult Females:
In general, adult women tend to suffer more from acne than men. This is due to increased hormonal activity that women experience during menstruation, pregnancy, and while breastfeeding. Sometimes, once any form of medication is stopped, the body’s hormones become unbalanced and can cause the sebaceous glands to fall out of line causing outbreaks. Unfortunately, women are at a higher risk of acne than the rest of the population.
Taking Steroids:
Any form of medication can stimulate the hormonal system in the body, especially when referring to steroids (cortisone). Unlike typical acne that appears on the skin in varying stages of development, acne sores that appears after taking steroids generally looks the same.
Stress:
Studies in recent years have been able to prove a strong link between mental stress and the appearance of acne. Such studies have demonstrated that mental stress or anxiety increases the chances of breakouts not only in teenagers but in adults as well. Mental stress and anxiety cause an increase in the level of cortisol leading the overactivity of the sebaceous glands in the body.
Recommended Steps to Treat Acne:
Before we jump into treatments, it is important to understand that we are speaking about long-term treatments. Adults who suffer from acne can continue to experience this as late as 30,40, and even 50 years old. Acne treatment is divided into the following categories: local, pharmacological, or hormonal.
Topical Acne Treatment:
A proper skin-care routine for acne-prone skin should be maintained beginning with a cleanser suited for oily, acne-prone skin followed by a non-greasy moisturizer, and spot treatment of some sort.
Medical Treatment of Acne:
This is a hormonal or antibiotic form of treatment generally administered through medication. For women, birth control pills are one way of treating acne (consult with your doctor first) as they affect the hormonal balance in the body.
Key Points to look out for during Acne Treatment:
Choosing Products that do not Clog your Pores:
Various cosmetic and make-up products can contain harmful substances. That is why similar to medication, it is essential to choose products that do not over-clog your pores. In addition, it is important to not over-cleanse your skin.
Dr. Eitan Berman, a leading dermatologist and consultant to Kamedis with numerous years of experience in the field of skin condition treatment explains, “Many people tend to think that cleansing the face many times a day will help reduce oiliness and pimples. The truth is quite the opposite: over-cleansing the face can cause an increase in the oil production in the skin as compensation for its “removal”. It is therefore advisable to wash the skin with a cleanser suitable for oily and acne-prone skin which does not overly dry out the skin and helps reduce the excess sebum that causes acne breakouts. The face should not be cleansed more than twice a day (morning and evening).
Keeping your Skin Hydrated and Moisturized:
Dr. Berman explains: “the level of moisture and natural balance of the skin is very important in oily skin that is prone to acne breakouts and pimples. It is recommended to choose a water-based cream and not an oil-based one. An oil-based cream can block the pores of the skin causing breakouts to increase.
Can a Proper Diet Help Prevent Acne?
Studies conducted in the United States, Italy, and Malaysia found that there was a link between consuming cow’s milk and an increase of acne lesions in children and adults. The data displayed a drastic increase of 44% of such symptoms.
Food with a high glycemic value like pasta, bread, or rice can cause an increase in androgens (a hormone similar to testosterone) and influence the appearance of acne. It is best to disqualify food that is known to cause breakouts(of course based on an individual level). Tracking your food intake and quantities consumed can be helpful in maintaining the necessary nutrition needed.
What Skin-Care Routine can help treat and Prevent Acne?
How can Kamedis Products assist in Treating Adult Acne?
As we get older, our skin becomes less resilient and therefore we want to be less aggressive with it during treatment. Irritation, redness, and dryness are some of the side effects that can result following a wide range of treatments, no matter how effective they are.
We at Kamedis have invested great efforts to make sure our treatments are effective and to consider the what is needed to maintain the natural balance of the skin. Kamedis products are enriched with a combination of natural plant extracts, and salicylic acid - an effective ingredient used in the treatment of acne and breakouts.
Long-Term Balanced Skin with no Unnecessary Side Effects: herbal-based formulas are a safe solution because they avoid the unnecessary side effects thorough combination of molecules working together. This combination is incorporated into our formula to relieve the symptoms of acne and increase the therapeutic effect.
How does the Kamedis AC-Clear series work?
Our products are based on a synergic combination of plant extract as opposed to chemical compounds; therefore, the molecular activity is selective.
What does that actually mean?
In antibiotic treatments for example the antibiotics destroy the bad bacteria, but they can also destroy the good bacteria whose function is to maintain the natural balance of the skin.
The herbal mechanisms we have developed have combined prebiotic and antibacterial properties lowering the risk of problematic reactions and side effects. The products attack the bad bacteria and encourage the natural growth of the good bacteria.
Kamedis offers a comprehensive solution for treating breakouts and acne-prone skin. The ACNE kit includes a cleanser, a non-greasy moisturizer, and spot treatment.

What is our skin up against?
Our skin goes up against various forms of air pollutants known as particulate matter (PM) that are displayed in diverse forms such as smoke, fog, and dust. This is even more challenging considering these particles are not visible to the eye and our skin absorbs them without us knowing. PM derives from industrial emissions such as diesel and fuel that spreads all around the cities, we live in.
What are the effects?
When these particles break the skin barrier, they can cause oxidative stress leading to inflammation, dullness, pigmentation, and various instances of wrinkles all hinting at early signs of aging.
In addition, unlike overexposure to UV rays that are revealed in the form of sunburns or rashes, the skin’s reactions to air pollution are developed over time and are not necessarily realized. Slowly, the skin’s collagen levels decrease, uneven skin tone arises, and firmness is lost – among all other symptoms.
People with skin conditions including Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis) are even more susceptible to reactions such as burning and inflammation. This is because their skin has already been jeopardized and therefore cannot protect itself like normal skin.
According to the National Library of Medicine, “In Taiwan, a nationwide survey involving over 30 thousand children demonstrated that flexural eczema was positively associated with exposure to traffic-related air pollutants” (Kim).
How can we help?
Our products contain herbal extracts with anti-oxidative and anti-inflammation properties that can neutralize the destructive pollution factors. In addition, our Botaniplex™ combinations contribute to the skin barrier integrity & strength, assisting our natural immune system combatants resist harmful pollutants.
Treatments all over the world are focused on marketing the effect of air pollution and other environmental factors to prevent penetration & further damage to the skin barrier and overall health.
At Kamedis, our Eczema Therapy line not only treats Eczema symptoms but is formulated with ingredients to help tackle those particles created as a result of air pollution.
Kamedis Eczema Therapy Cream and Wash were developed using a unique technology created exclusively by Kamedis. The CALM Botaniplex™ is a multi-level skin-restoring system for very dry and itchy skin. This system features a synergistic combination of botanicals with multifunctional effects that restore the skin's natural barrier.
]]>Skincare might be confusing. From the advice we receive from the skincare industry to the endless resources from Dr. Google, there is a lot of conflicting information.
Let’s get the record straight: Moisture is a must-have for healthy skin. In case of insufficient moisture, your skin will start giving you signs of discomfort. Skin without moisture won’t feel or look healthy.
So, what’s a moisturizer? Believe it or not, it’s a product designed to moisturize your skin. How does it do that? First by increasing hydration levels and then by repairing its natural protective barrier – your skin’s shield responsible for locking in the moisture. When the skin barrier is damaged, the moisture will simply escape, making your skin dull, dehydrated, and prone to sensitivities, inflammation, redness, aging, acne…you name it. Don’t mess with that barrier!
Now, let’s talk about some of the common myths regarding moisturizers and settle them once and for all.
Myth # 1 Oily skin doesn’t need to be moisturized
The Truth: It needs to be moisturized! Do you know what will happen if you don’t moisturize your precious skin? It’ll produce more oil! Your skin will be dehydrated, feel tight and shine bright ... (no, not like a diamond). Therefore, we design moisturizers for oily skin that are water-based and customized to meet the specific needs of oily skin prone to pimples and blemishes. It will provide you the hydration and all the amazing replenishing ingredients you need, will protect your skin barrier, and regulate oil levels, for ‘balanced’ skin. (aka #ACNE Face Moisturizer)
Myth #2 You need different moisturizers for different parts of the body
The Truth: It depends. Can different areas of the body require different treatments? I know it sounds weird but let me explain. Can you have an oily face and chapped hands? Oh, yeah. Would you want to use the same moisturizer for both? Hmm, up to you, not sure it will fix those hands though. Can you use that super nourishing fragrance-free eczema cream for both your face and on your elbows? Definitely! Not to mention, we use a minimalistic approach when creating our formulas #Eczema Therapy Cream.
Myth #3 Your skin might get addicted to moisturizers
The Truth: Are you addicted to water because you drink it every day? Quite the contrary. For healthy skin, you will want to apply moisturizer every day. If you don’t, you will simply lack the necessary traits for healthy and balanced skin. No need to overdo, no need to layer moisturizer after moisturizer, simply give your skin that TLC on daily basis.
Myth #4 Clean your face, dry it, and apply moisturizer
The Truth: Slight correction. Clean that face, keep it slightly damp, grab your moisturizer and apply it while still damp. Your moisturizer will lock in that beautiful hydration, making your skin soft and satisfied. Next time you shower, make sure to apply that moisturizer right after, then hang around in your bathrobe as much as you want.
Myth #5 Not every climate requires a specific moisturizer
The Truth: Objection, your honor! I guess we all agree that cold weather will dry out your skin. However, when we talk about hot and humid climates, not everyone seems to agree. The summer heat will cause your skin’s hydration to evaporate and if you don’t help it by applying the right moisturizer, your skin barrier can break which will cause inflammation, sensitivity, redness, and all that jazz. And don’t forget how the air conditioning will dry out your skin too. So basically, in the hot or cold, we commit to moisturizing. The idea is to choose a moisturizer according to climate. For example, ingredients like glycerin are perfect humectants (=hydrating). Look for light formulas during summer.

Article written by Rachel Jules, Exclusively for Kamedis
Skin conditions are among the most common health concerns in the United States. According to the integrative health center NIH, up to one in three Americans may have at least one skin condition. This includes eczema and psoriasis which can eventually lead to seborrhea. While there are many possible triggers for these conditions, heat is one of the biggest ones. As such, it’s important to understand just what heat does to your skin in order to prevent and alleviate these conditions.
Eczema
A term to describe dermatitis (or skin irritation), eczema is described by SymptomFind as a non-contagious dry skin condition. While the 31 million people with eczema experience different forms of it, a commonality is a reaction to heat. Because those with eczema are prone to dehydrated skin, being in the heat can exacerbate the loss of moisture. This can result in dry and itchy patches that can flake off. A specific form of eczema that’s particularly vulnerable to heat in the summer is called pompholyx eczema. This is because pompholyx eczema is a blistering condition sensitive to heat and sweating—both of which are typical in the summertime.
Psoriasis
The CDC’s online resources describe psoriasis as an autoimmune disease. This means the body’s immune system becomes overactive and begins to attack its normal tissues. This manifests as thick red skin with silvery scales. In hot weather, psoriasis can either be calmed or irritated. This is because natural sunlight and UV radiation in the right amounts can induce phototherapy treatment. This helps soothe irritations. On the flip side, too much sun exposure and extreme heat changes can trigger flare-ups. For those with psoriasis who fall under the lighter end of the Fitzpatrick scale, heat may even cause scales to become larger. This is because the lack of melanin makes the skin more prone to damage.
Seborrhea
Seborrhea is a recurring skin disease characterized by inflamed skin with large red or yellowish scales. In some cases, this condition may even itch, crust, and ooze. As a non-curable condition, it’s crucial for seborrheic dermatitis patients to avoid triggers. Interestingly, cold weather is actually more seborrhea than hot weather. This may be because colder seasons can have drier air. That said, especially dry days in hotter climates can still cause flare-ups. Once this happens, the skin’s patches may thicken and become more painful.
What can you do?
Similar to the tips we noted in our article about “How to Deal with Dry Skin and Eczema in the Winter”, you should prioritize protection and hydration. Remember to keep yourself hydrated with moisturizers and water. Drink at least eight glasses daily, and don’t hesitate to bring along a water jug while you’re out. Meanwhile, try to keep a rich moisturizer handy at all times, so you can regularly soothe your skin. Aside from this, don’t scrimp on sunscreen either. Sun protection is important since unprotected skin is not only prone to flare-ups but also deeper skin damage. Over time, this can cause serious illnesses like cancer. In an FDA consumer guide, they recommend using unscented sunscreens with at least SPF 30. With this, you can block out both harmful UV and UVB rays. As an added bonus, some sunscreens can add an extra layer of needed moisture.
Although none of these three conditions is totally curable, they are absolutely manageable. So much so, in fact, that many with these conditions can even suppress their symptoms altogether. To do so, it’s important to avoid triggers and follow a mindful holistic lifestyle. By observing a well-rounded skin care regimen, you can enjoy the summer without compromising your skin.

Farewell Winter , Hello Spring!
It is now April, the highlight of spring and we are slowly making our way into summer. Depending on where you live, this means higher levels of humidity which therefore hints at higher levels of sweating. Our pores get clogged more than usual and dirt and sebum build-up regardless of the kind of skin type you have. That is why it is essential you use the right products to cleanse and leave your skin refreshed and rejuvenated.
Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen!
Skincare is of no use if we do not wear the necessary SPF to cover and protect our skin. This is prevalent even more so during the summer as UV-rays are higher than ever and exposure to the sun is felt on a constant basis.
Take into consideration the various sunscreens needed to protect your skin type. For example, some prefer a mineral-based sunscreen as perhaps they are more sensitive to the ingredients to one based on a chemical formula. Others prefer a chemical-based sunscreen because they feel the ingredients work effectively to protect their skin.
Summer is almost here, and the bugs are coming out to play…
The switch from spring to summer means the heat is going up making all those little bugs and creatures more comfortable than ever. An increase in mosquito and bug bites is heading our way that can swell up and lead to rashes. The first thing to remember is to always have that bug spray handy not only when going on camping trips.
When you do experience those excessive bites, however, make sure to have the Kamedis Calming Lotion handy.
This is a quick-relief lotion based on herbs from traditional Chinese medicine. This is a must-have product that comes in a convenient size so you can take it anywhere on the go. It allows for immediate relief and soothes the skin affected by bites and other irritations we experience during the summer. Not only does it help make the bitten area disappear, but it also prevents further inflammation of the affected area.
The formula is based on a concentrated and exclusive herbal compound. You’ll notice this, especially in the earthy color of the skin as opposed to the traditional white creams you see in the pharmacy.
The best thing is that it is suited for adults, children, and babies ages six months and older.
]]>Read this if you are:
a) Ready to question your skincare routine
b) Intrigued with the idea of minimalism
Let’s be real for a second. If you live by your 12-step routine and aren’t open to making any sort of adjustment, this is not for you. However, if you want to alter, modify, and rethink what you are putting on your skin and how it affects the bigger picture, keep reading!
Disclaimer alert! I personally love the amazing skincare innovations, versatility in cosmetics, beauty, fashion, styling, you name it. I have certainly completed my “Ph.D.” in K-beauty via Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Iherb, and Amazon… over the course of five years. With this in mind, I am by no mean trying to brag or judge anyone’s skincare choices. Recently, however, I have woken up from the extreme skincare consumerism I thrived by and would like to share my 2 cents about it.
12-step skincare routines are being used by millions, creating an excessive need to buy more and more products that your skin might not necessarily need.
Let’s put it this way: Do you wear a sweater, vest, coat, and scarf when you are not feeling cold? Probably not. So why should our skin wear layer after layer?
So what is “Skinimalism”? Well… it’s a growing trend of minimalistic skincare. It is about choosing our skincare products mindfully, understanding our own skin, what we are putting on it, and buying quality, trustworthy, science-driven products that will do the job they promise. Skincare should be customized to your skin’s 'actual' needs. Your skin will be perfectly healthy if you provide what it requires. If you overdo it, you can, irritate your skin, cause an allergic reaction, break the skin’s barrier, and actually do more harm than good.
I know how attractive it is to see that influencer talking about another amazing product. But take a deep breath and ask, ‘does my skin really need this?’
Consumerism is powerful enough as it is. When we buy clothing, food, accessories, etc; it catches us completely off guard. We want to be responsible for our planet, so we buy clean beauty products, recyclable packaging, waterless shampoos. But you know what is actually sustainable? Avoiding products, we don’t need.
Now, apart from the philosophy of sustainability, let’s talk about the skincare industry. I see a distinct division between two different types of approaches. There are companies like The Ordinary and Inkey List who do a great job at selling ingredient-based products allowing the consumers to become educated (we had a lot of time in COVID isolations just for that!) on what to use, how to combine products, and to layer after layer. We all started to purchase dozens of products like Niacinamide, Ceramides, Salicylic Acid and became in-house chemists.
And then, there are companies like Kamedis and many others of course who take a different approach. We (Kamedis) specifically formulate our products to care for the skin’s needs through a holistic approach. For example, our Eczema Therapy Cream will provide anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation, anti-redness thanks to the different combinations of botanicals and other nutrient-dense ingredients. When you use this product, you receive most of the benefits your skin actually needs. Then, you don’t have to apply another layer of moisture, or anti-redness serum, because it’s already included in the formula.
There is no right or wrong here. But we at Kamedis are advocates of simple, sustainable, and affordable skincare for the wellbeing of people. We have a curated, simple, yet carefully selected portfolio of products that are a necessity for treating skin conditions in an optimal way. We purposefully choose each ingredient to treat the root cause and symptoms. Our products are great not just because they are formulated with unique botanicals, but because they actually work.
How do we know they work? Because we test them and clinically prove their efficacy. When you use such high-quality, well-formulated products, you don’t need duplicate actions in your routine. And if I managed to cause you to buy one less product, I did my job!

When Should I cleanse my face?
Cleansing should be done in the morning, in the evening to close out your day, and after excessive sweating. Keep in mind you should be cleansing with lukewarm water for just about sixty seconds and gently pat dry your face with a clean towel.
How do I know which cleanser is right for me?
With so many cleansers out there, sometimes it can be challenging to find the right one for your skin type. Some prefer cleansers that are mineral-based, some fragrance-free, some with the most basic ingredients, and some with all of the above. Let’s break down some of the most common skin types and see how Kamedis can find the right cleanser for you for some of these skin types.
Dry to very dry Skin
The key focus in dry skin is finding a cleanser that will…well not make it dryer. We want to make sure you get a product that does the job and keeps your skin hydrated and plump. Something that is a little thicker in texture can help, or a light gel that will not make your skin tighter. We recommend the Eczema Therapy Wash.
It is formulated with our unique herbal extracts including purslane, soap nut, and glycerin for hydration. It is fragrance-free, contains zero dyes & SLS, and meets the needs of skin ranging from semi-dry to extremely dry levels (Eczema or Eczema-prone skin). It gives the skin that gentle and pure relief for those suffering from dryness. It can’t get better than that!
Oily Skin
Oily skin usually displays shininess and some greasiness. For oily skin, it is essential to have a cleanser that can remove all the excess dirt without drying it out, leaving it as clean as possible without causing any further irritation. Remember that oily skin needs to stay hydrated as well. The biggest mistake people with oily skin make is over-drying their skin. The right level of hydration does not equal more oiliness and is key to maintaining the skin’s natural balance, preventing future breakouts.
To help treat oily and acne-prone skin, we recommend our Acne face cleanser. It is formulated with salicylic acid and focused on helping the skin shed dead cells from the top layer. It provides a unique combination of probiotic botanicals giving your skin a deep clean while removing excess oil and maintaining the skin’s natural balance.
]]>The discomfort that we feel is the result of the natural moisture and oils leaving our skin. If left untreated, the dryness can reach extreme levels through the display of rashes or eczema.
Eczema is one of the most common skin diseases in the world and categorizes a group of inflammatory skin diseases that causes irritated, itchy, and extreme levels of dry skin. The most famous within the eczema category is known as “atopic dermatitis”, a skin disease that can appear in children in areas such as the wrists, behind the elbows, and behind the knees. It is ts

5 Helpful Tips for Treating Dry Skin in the Winter
It can be frustrating having to deal with these conditions and reactions, but the good news is you are not alone, and there are certainly various ways to treat these issues. You can have glowing skin during the winter with these helpful tips.
I cannot stress this enough! Just because it’s not sunny, or we’re not sweating doesn’t mean that our skin doesn’t get affected. UV rays can reflect from the layers of snow outside your home or the puddles of rain you walk through on your way to work from different angles. Therefore, it is essential that your wear sunscreen, at least SPF 30 to protect your skin (even under your makeup). Don’t forget to reapply regularly throughout the day.
Drink Water
We are more in tune with our hydration levels during the summer because, well, we feel hot. Winter however can have the same effect and just because we don’t feel thirsty, doesn’t’ mean our body doesn’t need hydration. Drinking water keeps your skin hydrated and plump; not to mention prevents dryness.
Change Up your Routine
If you maintain a consistent skincare routine, it is important to pay attention to the specific cleansers and products you use throughout the seasons. Perhaps the cleanser you use during the summer doesn’t suit the weather change in the winter and can dry out your skin.
We recommend reviewing your skin type and finding a more suitable cleanser or moisturizer for the changing weather.
Moisturize After Washing
With the rage of the COVID…, people are washing their hands more than ever; not to mention the constant use of hand sanitizer that dries out the skin. During the winter this is ever more prevalent, considering that the cold can lead to cracked skin that has been stripped of its natural oils.
Leave the Heat to the Summer
During a cold winter night or an early busy morning, getting into a steamy hot shower does the trick. Even though this is something that we love doing, our skin suffers from its effect. Hot water can strip the skin of its natural skin barrier and oils. To prevent our skin from suffering, it is best to shower with lukewarm water. Also, instead of blasting the heater, try wearing fuzzy songs and layers instead.

The skin’s microbiome, otherwise known as the “skin flora,” is made up of a unique collection of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and virus which greatly impact how skin looks and feels. Like a fingerprint, each person’s microbiome is unique.
Did you know that the skin is the body's largest organ? It serves as a protective shield against heat, light, injury, and infection. The skin barrier or the surface of the skin is not only made up of a few types of cells but also contains our personal #microbiome. The #skin #microbiome is an invisible community of microorganisms, including bacteria, this #microbiome is unique to every person, much like our DNA ,no two are alike. In order to keep the skin barrier healthy and balanced, the microbiome needs and contains a supply of both “good” and “bad” microbes that live on its surface. Prebiotics are essentially food for the good bacteria (probiotics) that live on the surface of the skin.
When some bacteria proliferate more than others, our microbiome becomes unbalanced and the skin barrier is more vulnerable to infection.
What does the microbiome do?
The skins microbiome helps hinder bad bacteria from spreading all over the skin surface, it helps regulate PH, and it builds a protective layer which helps reduce trans-epidermal water loss.
How can you strengthen the skin’s microbiome?
Prebiotics!
Prebiotics are the substances on skin that help feed and encourage the growth and healthy balance of probiotics. This balance helps the skin fight off irritants and keeps the skin looking and feeling its best!
Kamedis biological studies successfully managed to show the prebiotic benefits of the botanicals that are integrated into the products. These botanicals are proven to inhibit the Cutibacterium acnes bacteria (the main "bad" bacteria found in acne), and encourages the commensal bacteria ( Staphylococcus epidermidis ) which is decreasing in acne prone skin.
Here's everything you need to know to keep your skin's defenses strong.
It's no surprise that when you look good, you feel good. Not only does a healthy skin barrier protect you from foreign invaders, it helps prevent evaporation to keep skin supple and hydrated. When the skin's protective barrier is compromised and the microbiome becomes unbalanced, it can make skin vulnerable to a variety of issues.
Your skin — your body's largest organ — is home to millions of fungi, bacteria and viruses that make up the microbiota. Similar to your gut microbiome, the skin microbiome is in charge of keeping you healthy and safe.
Typically, if you're a healthy adult, your skin microbiome will remain stable over time, even despite environmental fluctuations, pollution, sun damage and minor scrapes. However, it is possible for the barrier to become compromised and lose its natural balance.
Although it might seem like using an antibacterial soap to get rid of bacteria on the skin's surface would only be a good thing, these soaps don't differentiate between good and bad bacteria — they simply remove all bacteria! Accordingly, overusing antibacterial soap can actually cause an imbalance in the skin microbiome.
This can make you more susceptible to germs. Banishing good bacteria from your microbiome can play a role in flare-ups of rosacea, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and acne.
People who suffer from rosacea understand just how harmful a compromised skin barrier can be. Research published in the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology shows that an unbalanced microbiome may be linked to intestinal bacterial overgrowth, which causes an inflammatory response that leads to the development of rosacea.
You've probably already heard a ton about the gut microbiome, but did you know that it influences the skin microbiome? It's true! Eating healthy, fiber-rich foods — ones that build good gut bacteria through fermentation — can boost the skin's ability to fight off bad bacteria and retain moisture.
If you aren't sure that your skin's microbiome is healthy, or if you have some skin issues that you think could be solved with a stronger safeguard against pathogens, consider changing up your diet.
To start, encourage microbial diversity by promoting healthy gut bacteria and eating healthy foods. Focus on foods that contain prebiotics as well as foods with probiotics (like yogurt or kefir) to stimulate beneficial skin bacteria and address acne.
Summer Acne Marketing Tool
Acne awareness month
June is just the beginning of those hot summer months that escalate the severity and frequency of our acne. Thanks to the glorious heat, sweat, and humidity that our body produces excessively during those hotter months, the skin cells become especially stickier; that awful accumulation of dead skin cells and sebum becomes trapped inside the pore, creating the perfect environment for P.acnes, a naturally occurring bacteria, to multiply rapidly and results in inflammation.
The constant touching and wiping of the face and body- whether its wiping sweat off of your face or constantly plotting your blemishes with access makeup creates an even more irritating environment and disturbs the natural skin barrier
“Air-conditioning usually removes moisture from the air, making it incredibly drying, especially if it’s blasting you right in the face,” says Dr. Gohara. “So it ends up sucking the moisture from your face, which causes your skin to overproduce oil to compensate for the dryness.”
The result? Extra-oily skin (yup, even if your skin looks matte and dry; your pores produce oil from within, and too much too quickly can clog the pore before it reaches the surface). So while the A/C is kicking your oil production into overdrive, the heat wave is cranking out the sweat and the humidity is mixing it all together and sticking it to your skin.
Heat and humidity cause increased sweat and oil production in the skin leading to clogged pores and increased breakouts,” says Morgan Rabach, MD, a New York City-based board certified cosmetic dermatologist. While the culprits behind those comedones and cysts are primarily rising temperatures mixed with humidity, your skincare routine may not be helping matters. “The use of winter skincare, such as oil-based emollients, can be too thick for summer months,” explains board certified dermatologist Amy Spizuoco, DO.

Myth busters, here! You might have noticed your skin looks clearer after spending time in the sun, and your skin looks tighter and better. Do not be fooled, this is just for the first day! Immediately after, your skin will react to the harsh sun it received and the major dehydration. Expect to see an overproduction of sebum for your skin to make up for the lack of hydration, and thus clogging the pores leading to breakouts.
A classic tip, but so important, which is why it is included in every blog/article and post about taking care of skin during the summer. Hydrating from the inside is just as crucial as hydrating from the outside. The more you hydrate the less your skin needs to compensate!

Men & Dandruff
Experts have already agreed that dandruff is not due to lack of hygiene, but rather due to a buildup of yeast, malassezia globose, around the base of the hair follicles. Dandruff cannot be cured, but it can be controlled. Unfortunately, the male scalp contains 50% more sebum than a woman’s scalp and an overproduction of sebum on the scalp leads to the production of dandruff.
You’ll need to keep on hand an anti-dandruff shampoo that uses zinc pyrithione and use regularly to slow the rate at which dandruff falls.
When it comes to the recommended number of times needed to shower and wash hair, it completely depends from person to person. You just need to find the right balance for you. Usually, extremities in either direction aren’t going to be good though (don’t over wash and don’t neglect).
Stress, lack of sleep and poor diet can affect the level of severity as well. It’s recommended to look at these aspects and how much they affect your day-to-day in order to evaluate the changes you need to make. By decreasing your stress levels, getting a better night’s sleep and making smarter dietary choices, you’ll only be doing yourself a favor.
Men & Eczema
Everyone regardless of gender suffer from eczema just the same. Itchy, dry and irritated skin in different areas of the body and face. However, men can also suffer from eczema around their genitals. Since the symptoms can be very similar to those of STD’s, it’s best to check with your doctor before self-diagnosing and looking for a treatment.
If it is eczema, look for a product that will reduce the discomfort and provide long-lasting relief. Try to minimize the amount of sweat that sits in the area, either through frequently drying the area or making sure to shower and dry after working out. It will also help to pay special attention to which clothes cause irritation to the skin and to avoid them – any kind of rough fabric that rub up against the skin will further the pain. And lastly, although it’s obvious, try not to itch! This will flare-up the situation even more and make it even more difficult for your treatment to provide soothing relief.
Men & Acne
Yes, men get acne too. What can you do about it? Keep the skin clean and don’t underestimate the power of a good and consistent skincare routine.
Here are some main points to keep in mind while caring for acne:
By keeping these in mind you’ll be sure to see an improvement in your skin in just a couple of weeks.

]]>We all can agree that 2020 is a year we are happy to leave behind, right?
We can also say without hesitation, that this coming new year, we are all thrilled to make some new resolutions, with the hope for a better, healthier, and happier year.
On this optimistic note, we recommend starting nice and easy with these 5 easy skincare resolutions for a glowing complexion. Look out 2021 - here we come!
Double-Cleanse is the Best Cleanse
At the basis of any successful skincare regimen is a good cleanse. In order to get a healthy-looking, smooth complexion, you must cleanse your face the right way.
Start by removing your makeup with an oil-based cleanser, and then follow with another cleanser, preferably a foaming wash.
Lock in that Moisture
Be quick when it comes to moisturizing! That is, don't wait too long to start your skincare routine after exiting the shower.
Your pores are more responsive to moisturizers right after your skin has been near steams, so make sure you moisturize right after you've finished showering.
Skin Workout – it's a Thing!
Facial exercises are a great way to prevent or lessen signs of aging. They provide circulation to the muscles and help skin regeneration.
Most of these exercises can be done by massaging your face with nourishing oils or a moisturizer. There are also a lot of awesome face yoga exercises you can look for online.
Ice-cold
Have you heard of an ice facial? It involves two simple actions: washing your face, and immediately after gently massaging your face with 2 ice cubes rapped in a washcloth.
Done regularly, this simple trick can stimulate blood circulation under the skin, inhibit the formation of wrinkles, and relieve skin puffiness.
Sleeping beauty
Good sleep is the most basic act of self-care: a good night's sleep equals good health.
When you are sleep-deprived, your body makes extra stress hormone named cortisol, that can lead to increased inflammation in the body, and hurting your skin’s quality.
In order to have a healthier, clearer skin this year start by promising yourself 7-8 hours of quality sleep. It will improve your skin's appearance and your general health!
We hope that these 5 skincare tips will help you form your new year resolutions and will eventually become lifelong great habits!

We are talking about dry, itchy skin, of course. The dry climate and indoor heat are taking their toll, leaving us itchy and quite frankly – frustrated.
Fortunately, we are here to help you with some great tips to improve your daily routine, and make sure your skin stays hydrated and glowing.
Accommodate Your Home
Dry air affects our skin tremendously, and we need as much humidity as we can get.
This is why it is highly recommended to place a humidifier in the room where you spend most of your day. In many cases, it is actually your bedroom.
Avoid Super-Hot Long Showers
We know, a long hot shower can be such a pleasure in the wintertime.
But we're sorry to tell you that hot water is the number 1 enemy of dry skin, as it can harm your skin's natural hydration and the skin's moisture barrier.
So make sure to keep your showers short, and lukewarm.
Switch to a Better Face Cream
Look for a face cream and body cream (rather than lotion) that is seriously hydrating.
The kind of cream you are looking for should contain ceramides and hyaluronic acid. These ingredients provide hydration and keep your skin's barrier intact and healthy.
Avoid Harsh Cleansers
Make sure you throw away any face washes or body soap with drying ingredients.
What your skin needs right now is hydration. Use a wash that is gentle and does not strip the skin of its natural oils.
Adjust and Upgrade Your Diet
Increasing your daily intake of fats can really affect your skin for the better.
This does not include fried or processed food. We recommend you eat walnuts and avocado, and use olive oil instead of vegetable oil.
Have a happy, healthy winter!

]]>You know the feeling. You start seeing someone amazing, and everything is going great, but just when you're about to get close with them you close off?
Even if it's not with someone new, intimacy with a long-term partner can be tricky when you're distracted by making movies in your head about how your eczema will interfere or how you think your eczema affects your partner.
Well, I know the feeling. But I've learned that this lack of confidence and over self-awareness is a bigger problem than my eczema is.

Honesty and Openness Are Key
Believe me, I know it's super hard (and awkward) to talk about eczema with a new partner or even with someone you've already been with for awhile.
Other than the fact that you can't really ignore this topic, you shouldn't want to!
Opening up about the elephant in the room, will help you realize there isn't one! And you are very desirable in your partner's eyes, regardless of flare-ups on your skin.
No matter what your skin is like, it's not really the problem, as your partner finds you attractive on so many other levels. Opening up this conversation will help you realize that your partner cares for you and wants you to feel comfortable in your own skin.
This is also a great opportunity to let them know of any specific sensitive/itchy areas so they can be sure to steer clear and not add to the aggravation.
If until now, your eczema created a distance between you and your partner, now it will create a new level of familiarity and closeness.
Accept Yourself & Be Creative
Self-acceptance, self-care and self-love can help us happily receive care and love from others.
It is important that you dedicate time for your self – do things you love doing alone, activities that make you feel good and peaceful.
I hope I helped you understand the benefits of opening up to your partner (new or old) about your eczema. You'll soon realize that they also want the best for you and want you to feel the most comfortable. Just give them the chance.
I would be very happy to give you more tips and answer any question on your mind regarding your skin. I'm available at info@kamedis-usa.com.

At Kamedis we have developed an Anti-Dandruff kit that provides the ultimate treatment for an itchy and flaky scalp that is both quick and effective.
We’re so confident in the abilities of our Anti-Dandruff kit because we can be! Our clinical studies proved these results:
What Makes This Kit Unique?
Our Anti-Dandruff kit was developed using a unique technology available only to us in our Kamedis labs.
This technology is called Control Botaniplex™ system, and it is a patent pending skin restoring system.
This system features a synergistic combination of botanicals with multiple biological effects that restore the skin's natural moisture barrier.
Combined with these TCM botanicals are other powerful ingredients such as Zinc Pyrithione and Salicilic Acid to really tackle the itching, flaking and irritation from all angles.
All of these ingredients work to reduce dandruff and other scalp related issues while also working to return the skin to it’s natural barrier – and without any side effects.
