Kamedis products are based on tried-and-tested combinations of oils, minerals and herbal extracts based on traditional Chinese medicine and the clinical experience of our three founders:

Rhubarb Root (Da Huang)

For centuries the rhizome of Rhubarb (Polygonaceae) was highly regarded by the Chinese for its various medicinal properties. Later on, modern research has justified this reputation.

Scutellaria Baicalensis Root (Huang Qin)

The Scutellaria species (Labiatae) have been widely used in traditional medical systems all over the world in treating inflammatory skin conditions, bronchitis, hay fever, hepatitis and as antibacterial agents. One of the 50 fundamental herbs in traditional Chinese medicine, it is commonly used and highly regarded for its antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties, and is used for the treatment of various skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis and seborrhea.

Portulaca (Ma Chi Xian)

Portulaca Oleracea (Portulacaceae) is one of the most widespread and ancient plants known to man. Purslanes leaves have a high concentration of essential fatty acids (EFA) and are one of the most abundant terrestrial vegetable sources of Omega-3 fatty acids.

Cnidium Seed (She Chuang Zi)

She Chuang Zi (Umbelliferae) has been used for thousands of years in Chinese herbal medicine. It is mainly applied externally in lotion, powder or ointment form to treat various skin conditions.

Amur Cork Tree / Phellodendron Amurense (Huang Bai)

Bark Phellodendron (Rutaceae) is obtained from the bark of the Phellodendron amurense tree or the Phellodendron chinense tree. The trees are cultivated in China to supply the huge demand for this frequently used herb.

Sophora Root (Ku Shen)

In China extracts of Sophora (Leguminosae) are administered orally, topically and by injection to successfully treat eczema, urticaria, pruritis, seborrhea and other types of dermatitis.

Chrysanthemum Sinense (Ju Hua)

The Chrysanthemum Flower is a bitter aromatic herb that has been used for thousands of years in Chinese medicine. The flower heads are used to improve vision, soothe sore eyes, relieve headaches, counter infections etc.

Soap-nut tree extract

The Soap nut tree (Sapindaceae) contains a high percentage of Saponins, which are glycosides with a distinctive foaming characteristic. These are natural detergents that have been used for ages in India and China as soap for body washing and especially as a hair shampoo. The extract contains anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-itching, sebum regulating and sebum and dandruff removal properties. Kamedis's Soap nut extract is hypoallergenic.

Angelica Root (Dang Gui)

Dang Gui is a well-known Chinese herb that has been used in the treatment of women for thousands of years. Its reputation is perhaps second only to ginseng (Panax Ginseng) and it is particularly noted for its 'blood tonic' effects on women.

Polygonatum (Huang Jing)

The root is antibacterial, antifungal, antirheumatic, antiseptic, demulcent, lenitive, a tonic and a vasodilator. Its use lowers blood pressure and prevents atherosclerosis and fatty infiltration in the liver. It is used in the treatment of dry coughs as well as for fatigue and poor appetite.

Dipotassium glycerrhizate (licorice)

Potassium salt of glycerrhizinic acid is produced from the licorice plant. This substance has been proven to have anti-inflammatory actions similar to hydrocortisone (steroids), without the side effects.

Borneol (Bing Pian)

Borneol and Camphor have been used in the East as an antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, anthelmintic and as a respiratory aid. Camphor alleviates itching, acts as a stimulant, an antipruritic and is mildly antiseptic.

Azulene / Bisabolol

Both substances are produced from German Chamomile, contain anti-inflammatory properties and are used as calming agents for sensitive skin.
